We are very excited to announce that Ron King’s latest work ‘Sedna and the Fulmar’ has just being released for sale by the Circle Press.
It is a rendering of the Inuit myth of how Sedna, tricked by a mysterious lover, then betrayed by her father was ultimately transformed into a sea goddess who is central to Inuit belief. Walrus, whales and seals are created for the first time in the enchantment of Sedna’s transformation. Ron King and the poet Richard Price respond to the myth with powerful understatement. The book is almost entirely white in response to the Inuit landscape of snow and ice, using 15 blind relief prints to create the images as well as blind embossed Inuktitut words. With the ice blue letterpress used for Richard Price’s poems, an atmosphere of soft yet austere definition has been created which enhances both the violent and the sensual dream-like qualities of the story.
There are only 40 copies available to buy from us so you will have to be quick to reserve a copy.
