Cuala Press 1910
Two original hand-coloured prints, signed in the print 'Jack B. Yeats' and hand coloured by the artist. 245 x 132 cms, 17 ¼ x 5¼ ins. In very good condition but with the bottom right hand corner very slightly creased and a tiny stain on the bottom of the first print.
By the great Irish artist Jack B. Yeats (1871-1957), hand printed and hand-coloured by him at the Cuala Press which was established by his sister. The world famous annual horse racing on the beach by the Irish Sea at Laytown, Co. Meath (29 miles north of Dublin). This unique race meeting has been carried on for over 150 years after being started on Laytown's three miles of sand by the parish priest in 1876. Yeats really gets the rough and exciting feel of a race meeting and the jollity of the boozing spectators.
