Waltham Saint Lawrence Golden Cockerel Press 1937

No. 71 of 150 copies signed by the author. 6 wood engravings by Clifford Webb. Printed in Caslon Old Face on Arnold’s hand-made paper. 8vo, quarter brown morocco with canvas covered boards, gilt lettering on spine, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Spine a little rubbed, edges of canvas a bit darkened, booklabel on front pastedown offset on the ffep, otherwise a very good copy.

Sandford wrote of printing this work: “To print a new manuscript with which one has falled in love is to deck the beloved. When one comes to publication it is like showing her to one’s friends. How great was our pleasure in introducing subtle, humorous Ana the Runner to our collectors only we can say”.
