Translated from the Greek by Paul Turner. One of 75 special copies bound in full morocco and with an extra suite of plates with an additional plate not in the book. Collotypes of 6 brush drawings by Paul Turner printed at the Chiswick Press with 7 in the extra suite. Sm. 4to., original full green morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe with images of a Greek man and girl blocked in gilt on each cover, top edge gilt, the extra suite of plates is housed in a separate cloth sleeve and together they are in the original tan buckram slipcase. Spine rather faded to brown, few marks to morocco, offset from the turn-ins to the ffeps, otherwise an extremely good copy.
A sister volume to Apollonius of Tyre with illustrations by the artist Eric Fraser who made wash drawings on linoleum which were printed over a terracotta tint. The separate set of plates are printed without the terracotta background. Sandford wrote of this book and Apollonius "these two volumes pleased me much".
