One of 725 copies, this no. 589. 8vo., original parchment backed rich gold boards, uncut. Slight lifting to top edge of spine, slightly rubbed at extremities, few small spots to endpapers, otherwise a very good copy with tissue guards in place.
Gooden’s first book which Meynell considered to be his finest.
Ex libris of Edward Sackville West, the novelist and music critic on front pastedown. Sackville-West was a great supporter of the work of Benjamin Britten who made the writer the dedicatee of his Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings.
