Small album of 21 leaves, 11 with mounted prints including one of Robinson Crusoe. 15 x 10.5 cms, green morocco spine and edges, the covers with original pen, ink and wash drawing of ruins in the landscape within gilt paper embossed frames, spine tooled in gilt, silk pocket endpapers, fore-edge with four greenmorocco loops with the original ivory stylus. the inner hinge is starting but strong, all in all very good and well-preserved.
The image drawn onto the upper cover is of the ruins of Ehrenfels Castle above the Rhine in Hesse and the lower one appears to be of Rheinstein Castle again above the Rhine near Techtingshausen. The book appears to be a memento of a visit to the area as the castles stand on opposite curves of the Lower Middle Rhine. A really charming book.
