Two volumes. Each one of 150 copies on Japanese vellum, (a further 25 copies of each were printed on vellum). Initial letters hand-drawn in gold, red and blue by Graily Hewitt. Printed in Subiaco type with a red colophon. 8vo., original limp vellum, spines lettered in gilt. Exceptionally crisp and fresh copies housed together in specially made blue morocco backed, blue cloth clamshell box
Two superb copies of these connected but separately printed books both illuminated with Hewitt's simple and beautiful initials.
Both volumes with the booklabel, printed in Kelmscott Golden type, of Henry Harvey Frost on the front free endpapers. Frost (1873-1961) built a phenomenal library which was mainly sold through Maggs from 1952. The Sapphica with the ex libris of Owen Pritchard, MD on the front pastedown.
