One of an edition of 30. Original wood engraving, signed, dated, titled and numbered by the artist in pencil, on the usual proof paper, mounted onto a small sheet of thicker handmade paper. From the estate of the artist. 12.1 x 9.3 cms.

Buckland Wright was inspired to make this engraving by a drawing of the French-Indian dancer and choreographer Mme Nyota Inyoka (1896-1971). Inyoka was very famous in Paris where she danced at the Folie Bergère in 1917 and 1921 dressed in costumes designed by Paul Poiret. She also danced to great acclaim in New York, once appearing with Anna Pavlova.
