No. 179 of 340 copies, this being one of a few which were specially hand coloured for a group of bibliophiles with two additional erotic plates, not used in the book, bound in at the end.. 25 hand-coloured drypoints by Jean Dulac, plus the two additional erotic ones in black and white. Printed in black and orange. 8vo., bound in full red morocco, sides with gilt fillet borders and a central panel of 5 gilt fillets with ornate gilt tooling in each corner, spine lettered in gilt with elaborate gilt tooling, turn-ins with gilt fillet and a flower and leaf gilt roll tool, silk doublures. A very handsome volume.
A charming, delicately saucy version of Daphnis and Chloe, privately published by the artist, this being one of very few copies delicately hand-coloured for a group of ‘amateurs’ or bibliophiles.
