~ Helios.

Newark, Vermont Janus Press 2010

No. 67 of 150 copies, signed by the artist. A large scale drawing with written text by Peter Schumann, printed offset in duotones over 20 pages in an accordian format. Printed on Mohawk Superfine paper by Kim Poach at Silver Mountain Graphics with letterpress printing by Andrew Miller-Brown at the Janus Press. Bound accordian style by Audrey Holden in linen buckram with endpapers of Barcham Green India Office paper, titled in black. A very good copy.

Schumann’s splendid drawing illustrates the words “And all of a sudden Helios’s horses rear up with neighing, trombones and bright coloured fog....” The drawings depict people in an eternal fog which is explained by Schumann’s words at the end of the book which reference our “petrified inequalities” and ends with a critique of ‘public deformation’ and ‘the more more more officers open a new office for the regulated distribution of the more more more/they are in charge of the not so subtle unevenness of which our system is so proud."...
Helios is the second in a series by the Janus Press inspired by the seasons.
