In an exceptional and rare Art Deco Riviere binding

Pp. xxxviii, 305. 18.1 x 11.8 cm. 8vo., bound by Riviere in one of their rare 1920s Art-Deco stained leather pictorial bindings of full brown polished calf with a panel of deep blocked lettering in black above an image of a country church made from onlaid block-stamped calf variously stained in browns and greens, on the back is an image made in the same way of soup in a blue bowl with label and a clay pipe, and on teh spine a candle stick and letteres in gilt with flower gilt tooling, turn-ins with a double gilt fillet, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Housed in the original faux crocodile box made from stiff board and lined with felt. The box is worn, otherwise an exceptionally good binding.
