Pp. xvii [1] 219 [3]. 4to., [19.5 x 26.5 cms], original brown gilt-stamped cloth, t.e.g, others uncut, original slipcase, title label to spine. An attractive, largely unopened copy in a very worn slipcase.

Robert Surtees began writing about the inimitable sporting hero John Jorrocks – a cockney grocer with a penchant for fox hunting – in the early 1830s and first published this collection of tales relating to Jorrocks’s adventures in 1838. Humorously illustrated with Gordon Ross’s watercolours.
