MORRIS, Jane. PARSONS, John R. ~ Early 20th century print of the celebrated photograph of Jane Morris by John R. Parsons.
Superb print of Jane Morris probably printed from the negative in the eary 1900s.
In 1865 Dante Gabriel Rossetti arranged a photo shoot with John R. Parsons of his muse, model and love interest Jane Morris, William Morris’s wife. The shoot took place in Rossetti’s garden and house and 18 portraits are known to have come from it. Only a very few examples survived from the original printing of the negatives, however in the early 1900s various prints were made from these negatives, as well as later projects such as an image of Helen Angeli Rossetti, of which this may well be an example.
This superb print comes from the estate and collection of William Fredeman, the eminent pre-Raphaelite scholar.
