GOLDEN COCKEREL PRESS. MORGAN, Gwenda. GRAY, Thomas. ~ Gray's Elegy written in a Country Church-yard.
Foreword by Christopher Sandford. No. 704 of 750 copies. 9 wood engravings by Gwenda Morgan. Printed in Caslon’s Old Face on Arnold’s mould made paper. Sm. 8vo., original blue cloth backed marbled paper covered boards, gilt lettering on spine, top edge gilt, others uncut. Edges faded and a tiny bit of rubbing to very edges of marbled paper, occasional darkening to edges paper but generally a very good copy.
A very successful small book from the Press with some excellent engravings by Gwenda Morgan. Sandford wrote of them: “technically dextrous, they were also delightfully interpretative of village life in England and the unchanging face of the land”.
