12 wood engravings by Clifford Webb and 3 maps in pen and ink by Mina Greenhill. No. 128 of 500 copies (the first 80 copies were bound in full morocco). Printed in Poliphilus type with Centaur initials on Arnold's mould-made paper. Large 4to., bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe in original quarter brown morocco with marbled paper covered boards, gilt lettering and cockerel on spine, top edge gilt, others uncut. Spine very mildly faded and edges a trifle browned, otherwise good.
The text is an historical novel by Ivor Bannet about what Sandford calls "the true nature of the 'gentle' sex". Webb's engravings are vibrant and exciting as his black and white contrasts are far more marked than is usual.
