Spring has sprung and I will be in New York to enjoy Rare Book Week and the splendid fair at The Armory, Park Avenue. Some of the greatest books available to buy anywhere in the World will be on show and I can’t wait to see what is on offer.
If you can’t make it you can see a small part of it here – over 80 very recent acquisitions – some superb Private Press books including both the deluxe English edition and the German edition of the Cranach Press Hamlet (very useful to see the two of them together and appreciate the variations), some really fine Golden Cockerels, an inscribed Kelmscott Press Hand and Soul, a whole case of fine and designer book bindings. I also have a remarkable 19th century Scottish Bible salesman’s sample book, several paper samples and some really good illuminated ms. from the late 19th and early 20th century including a remarkable and large scale ms. of Baudelaire by the francophile artist Bulwer-Lytton.
