Original proof copper engraving signed and numbered by Eric Gill in pencil, “EG” and 6/25, however the numbering has been crossed out and the word “proof” added in pencil. Image size 115 x 91 mms. Small crease to the side of the image. Mounted and framed.
Proof of an alternative and more explicit design which was rejected in favour of the more delicately covered image actually used for ‘Earth Receiving’ in Procreant Hymn, published by The Golden Cockerel Press in 1926. Very scarce.
